Founded in 1990 as an offshoot of the Greek line Chandris Inc., Celebrity Cruises is now owned by Royal Caribbean International. A premium cruise line offering gourmet cuisine, sophisticated service and a quality finish throughout its ships, Celebrity has a wide range of itineraries including a strong presence in Alaska (currently using two megaships there - Mercury and the new Infinity) and Europe, where Galaxy and Millennium are currently cruising. Celebrity's ships can also be found throughout the Caribbean, South America, Hawaii and its patented Bermuda-New York cruise. The fleet's newest ship, Infinity, is 91,000 tons but carries only 1,950 passengers and offers onboard amenities that include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, whirlpools, health spa and youth center. A sistership, Summit, will be launched in September this year. Ships have average to good children's facilities.
